Drymaeus is a genus of land snails belonging to the family Bulimulidae. These gastropods, primarily native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas, have gained attention as potential pests when introduced into greenhouse environments, botanical collections, and private gardens where they feed on diverse plant species.

Systematically, they belong to the order Stylommatophora, a group of terrestrial pulmonate gastropods. Their physiological structure allows them to thrive in humid, shaded environments, making them particularly problematic for potted plants and nursery stock kept in controlled, moist indoor climates.

The biology of Drymaeus involves nocturnal activity and a life cycle that depends heavily on moisture availability. Reproduction occurs through egg-laying in damp soil, organic debris, or leaf litter. The offspring emerge as miniature versions of the adults, immediately beginning to forage on nearby vegetation.

The damage caused by these snails is characterized by irregular holes in leaves, consuming young buds, and scraping the epidermis of stems. Their feeding activities often leave behind visible slime trails and can cause significant aesthetic damage to high-value ornamental crops like orchids and bromeliads.
