Eloria is a genus of moths belonging to the family Erebidae. The most significant member from an agronomic perspective is Eloria noyesi, which acts as a specialized defoliator of the coca plant (Erythroxylum coca). This pest is a major focus for agricultural researchers in South America, where it poses a continuous threat to crop stability and yields.

Taxonomically, the genus belongs to the order Lepidoptera, family Erebidae. These insects are known for their specific host plant associations. While the adult moths are generally nocturnal and inconspicuous, the larval stages are highly destructive and possess physiological adaptations that allow them to process the specific phytochemicals found in their host plants, which are often toxic to other generalist herbivores.

The life cycle of Eloria follows a typical holometabolous pattern, consisting of eggs, larvae, pupae, and adults. Eggs are typically laid in clusters on the underside of leaves. The larval stage is the most prolonged and damaging phase, characterized by aggressive feeding behavior.   • Use of light traps to monitor population density and identify flight peaks of adult moths.
