The six-spotted spider mite (Eotetranychus sexmaculatus) is a significant pest belonging to the Tetranychidae family within the order Trombidiformes. Named for the distinct pattern of dark spots on its dorsal surface, this mite is a well-known threat to citrus groves and various ornamental plants. It is particularly problematic in areas with warm, arid climates or within greenhouse environments where pest pressure can escalate rapidly.
This mite primarily infests citrus species, such as lemons, oranges, and grapefruits. However, its host range can also extend to other woody plants. The economic impact is significant, as heavy infestations cause reduced plant vigor, stunted growth, and substantial loss of foliage.
