Epuraea motschulskii is a member of the order Coleoptera and the family Nitidulidae, commonly known as sap beetles. These small beetles are significant agricultural pests that primarily target the reproductive structures of plants, posing a threat to both fruit and ornamental production.

The beetle primarily damages crops by feeding on flowers, pollen, and developing ovaries. This feeding behavior often leads to stunted growth, flower abortion, and fruit deformation, significantly reducing the marketable yield. High infestations during the flowering stage can result in catastrophic losses for susceptible crops.
