Description
The genus Ernobius is part of the Anobiidae family within the order Coleoptera. These beetles are primarily known for their ability to infest the reproductive organs and tissues of coniferous trees. They are recognized as significant pests in forestry and nurseries where they can compromise the viability of seeds and the health of young saplings.
The primary hosts for this pest include spruce, pine, larch, and fir trees. Ernobius species typically target stressed or weakened trees, though they are also frequently found in freshly cut timber and storage yards, where they can survive and propagate in favorable environmental conditions.
