Galerucella is a genus of leaf beetles belonging to the family Chrysomelidae. These insects are well-known agricultural and horticultural pests that feed on a variety of plants, including water lilies, roses, and woody shrubs. Their impact can be significant, especially in nurseries and garden environments where plant health is a priority.
Taxonomically, they are part of the order Coleoptera. Adult beetles typically exhibit an oval shape and a color palette ranging from yellowish to brownish, often with darker markings. The larvae are typically elongated, equipped with tubercles and setae, and are highly active feeders that concentrate on the underside of leaves to avoid predators and environmental stress.
