The dock leaf beetle (Gastroidea polygoni) is a common insect pest classified within the order Coleoptera and the family Chrysomelidae. The beetle primarily feeds on host plants such as sorrel (Rumex), rhubarb, and buckwheat. In agricultural settings, it frequently migrates from surrounding weeds, such as knotweed or bindweed, to cultivated crops, leading to rapid infestations that require immediate monitoring and management actions.
The biological cycle of this pest involves several developmental stages, including eggs, larvae, pupae, and adults.
