Globodera agulhasensis is a species of plant-parasitic nematode belonging to the family Heteroderidae and the order Tylenchida. Recognized as a significant threat to agriculture, this species is noted for its ability to persist in the soil for extended periods, making it a challenging organism for farmers to manage effectively in infested fields.

The primary hosts of this nematode are crops within the Solanaceae family, with potatoes being the most economically significant. The nematode invades the root systems of these plants, where it establishes specialized feeding sites that disrupt the plant's nutrient and water uptake, directly impacting the development of tubers and overall plant vitality.

The biological cycle of this nematode is characterized by the formation of cysts. These are the protective, dead body walls of adult females that encase hundreds of eggs.
