Description

The genus Gnorimoschema belongs to the order Lepidoptera and the family Gelechiidae. These moths are recognized globally as significant agricultural pests, particularly the potato tuber moth (Gnorimoschema operculella), which poses a serious threat to food security in many warm-climate regions.

This pest primarily attacks members of the Solanaceae family, with potatoes being the most economically vulnerable host. Other crops such as tomatoes, eggplants, bell peppers, and tobacco are also susceptible, making it a widespread problem for commercial vegetable farming.

The biological cycle of Gnorimoschema is highly adapted to favorable environmental conditions, allowing for multiple generations within a single growing season.
