The yellow-horned leaf beetle (Gonioctena flavicornis) belongs to the order Coleoptera and the family Chrysomelidae. This specialized phytophage is characterized by its specific elytral coloration and distinct yellowish-red antennae, which inspired its common name. The beetle is often cryptic in its behavior, making early detection crucial for effective management in agricultural or forestry settings.

Host plants and specialization
This species is highly specialized, primarily targeting trees of the genus Salix (willows). It is found both in natural forest ecosystems and in commercial nurseries, where willow is grown for ornamental purposes or biomass production. Biology and life cycle
The life cycle of the yellow-horned leaf beetle follows a complete metamorphosis: egg, larva, pupa, and adult (imago). Typically, the beetles overwinter as adults in forest litter or the top layers of soil.
