Goniodes is a genus of chewing lice (order Mallophaga, family Philopteridae) that acts as a significant pest within the poultry industry. Unlike field crop pests, these insects are ectoparasites that directly impact the health and economic output of poultry farms by infesting chickens, turkeys, and other avian species.

These parasites primarily inhabit the skin and feathers of their host. By feeding on the host's feather barbs and skin debris, they create a persistent state of discomfort. This irritation leads to decreased growth rates, lower egg production, and poor overall condition, which directly threatens the profitability of poultry operations.

The biology of Goniodes is characterized by an incomplete metamorphosis occurring entirely on the host bird.
