These beetles typically reside in the upper layers of the soil or beneath plant debris, adopting a cryptic lifestyle that often hides them from early detection by farmers during field inspections.

This species is recognized as a polyphagous pest capable of damaging a wide variety of agricultural crops. It poses a significant threat to cereal grains, maize, sunflower fields, as well as various vegetable and cucurbit crops. The pest is particularly resilient and active in regions with arid or semi-arid climates.

Key practices include deep autumn plowing to disturb soil habitats, strict crop rotation, and aggressive weed control. In cases of high infestation, applying systemic insecticide seed treatments or utilizing soil-applied granular pesticides is necessary to protect the vulnerable germination stage.
