Because it is highly adaptable, it can persist in soil by feeding on various weed species, which makes it a persistent challenge for standard crop rotation programs in infested agricultural regions.

Biology and life cycle: The life cycle of Hoplolaimus columbus occurs primarily within the rhizosphere. Being a semi-endoparasite, it can migrate through root tissues or feed externally on the epidermis.
