The genus Kukulcania belongs to the family Filistatidae, commonly known as crevice weavers. In an agricultural context, these spiders are often found inhabiting nurseries, greenhouses, and storage facilities, where their activity, although indirect, can affect the physiological state of cultivated plants.

Taxonomically, they are classified under the order Araneae. These spiders are known for their distinct, cribellate, tube-like silk nests that they construct in various crevices, including tree bark, stone walls, and the structural joints of greenhouses, which provides them with stable hunting grounds.

The biology and lifecycle of Kukulcania are characterized by longevity, particularly in females. They remain stationary for long periods, maintaining their silk structures. Unlike web-building spiders that catch prey in mid-air, Kukulcania relies on radial silk threads that transmit vibrations when a potential insect prey touches them.

The dense, sticky web traps dust, debris, and moisture, which can inhibit photosynthesis by blocking light to the leaves.
