Labidostomis brevipennis is a species of leaf beetle (Chrysomelidae) within the order Coleoptera. This insect is recognized as an agricultural pest, particularly in steppe regions, where it frequently attacks both wild and cultivated plant species, impacting commercial gardening and forestry.

The host range of this beetle is quite diverse. It primarily affects stone fruit trees such as apricots, peaches, and plums, as well as pome fruits like apples. Additionally, the beetle can feed on the foliage of trees like oaks and various legumes, making it a multifaceted pest for integrated agricultural landscapes.

The biological cycle follows a seasonal pattern typical for leaf beetles. Adults overwinter in the soil or under layers of leaf litter. As temperatures rise in spring, they emerge, undergo a period of maturation feeding, and subsequently reproduce. Larvae generally develop in the soil layer, consuming organic matter or plant debris during their growth stages.

The damage caused by adults is characterized by irregular, large holes eaten out of the leaves. In cases of severe infestation, the beetles can cause near-total defoliation of the canopy, leaving only the primary veins. This significant loss of photosynthetic surface area reduces the plant's overall vigor, inhibits shoot development, and lowers the quality of the harvest.
