Systematic position: The millet leaf beetle (Lema dilutipes) belongs to the order Coleoptera and the family Chrysomelidae. As a specialized pest, it targets millet crops, causing significant economic damage in agricultural regions where this grain is cultivated extensively.

Crops and damage: The primary host is millet. Both adult beetles and larvae cause damage to the foliage. Adults feed by chewing long, narrow strips through the leaf tissue, leaving the lower epidermis intact. Larvae feed more aggressively, skeletonizing the leaves by scraping away the parenchyma.
