This moth is a specialized pest that targets various species of the Viburnum genus, causing significant damage to the foliage of decorative shrubs and trees.
The life cycle of the moth consists of the egg, larval (caterpillar), pupal, and adult stages. The adult moth is nocturnal and relatively small, making it difficult to detect in the early stages of infestation. The females deposit eggs on the surface of the leaves, which become the primary food source for the hatching larvae.
The caterpillars are leaf miners, meaning they tunnel inside the leaf tissue to feed on the parenchyma. This mining behavior creates distinct trails or patches on the leaves.
