Description

Lophocampa sobrina is a moth species belonging to the order Lepidoptera, family Erebidae, and subfamily Arctiinae. These insects, often referred to as tiger moths, are known for their hairy larvae which can cause significant damage to foliage when populations reach high densities.

This pest is primarily polyphagous, targeting a wide range of deciduous trees and shrubs, including various fruit-bearing species. The larvae feed aggressively on leaf tissue, and in scenarios with heavy infestations, they can strip entire branches of their foliage, severely impacting plant health.

  • Manual removal and destruction of caterpillar webs or clusters to prevent spread.
