Description
Systematic position. The yellow-legged leaf beetle (Luperus xanthopoda) belongs to the order Coleoptera and the family Chrysomelidae. This beetle species is known for its selective feeding habits, primarily targeting woody plants within the Rosaceae family in various European and Mediterranean habitats.
Host plants. The primary hosts include cultivated fruit trees such as apples, pears, plums, and cherries. Additionally, the pest thrives on various wild shrubs, which serve as reservoirs for infestation. The beetle's ability to switch between wild and cultivated species makes it a persistent challenge in integrated orchard management.
