These organisms are highly specialized hunters that primarily target land snails and slugs, functioning as apex predators within the micro-habitat of the soil surface and leaf litter layer.
Unlike traditional plant pests that feed on foliage or roots, Marionfyfea does not consume plant matter directly. Instead, its economic and ecological importance stems from its role in the food web. While they may help suppress populations of common garden slugs, they also threaten native mollusk species, potentially leading to a decline in biodiversity within managed horticultural systems.
