Host crops: The pest exhibits a strong preference for Fabaceae species. Its primary hosts include soybeans (Glycine max), common beans, and lupines. By targeting these crops, Medythia suturalis threatens both the vegetative and reproductive phases of plant development, impacting yield quality and overall farm profitability.

Biology and lifecycle: The life cycle involves egg, larval, pupal, and adult stages. Adult beetles typically overwinter in soil or crop debris. As temperatures rise in spring, they emerge to feed on host leaves and initiate mating.
