Meloidodera is a genus of plant-parasitic nematodes belonging to the family Heteroderidae within the order Tylenchida. These microscopic organisms are known for their sedentary lifestyle as endoparasites, specifically targeting the root systems of various host plants.

The biology of Meloidodera revolves around their adaptation to the host plant environment. Adult females typically become swollen and sessile within or on the surface of the root tissue, where they establish specialized feeding sites. This parasitic relationship draws essential nutrients away from the plant.

The lifecycle consists of several stages: eggs, juvenile stages (J1-J4), and adults. Eggs are often protected by a gelatinous matrix or the thickened body wall of the female, which enhances their survival in soil environments between growing seasons, making them difficult to eradicate once established.
