The Moroccan root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne morocciensis) is a destructive microscopic parasite belonging to the order Tylenchida and the family Meloidogynidae. It is a highly specialized plant-parasitic nematode that establishes itself within the root tissues of a diverse range of agricultural and horticultural hosts.
This pest is particularly problematic for solanaceous crops such as tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants, as well as various cucurbits. It thrives in protected environments like greenhouses, where favorable temperature and moisture conditions allow for rapid population growth and multiple generations within a single season.
The biological cycle begins with second-stage juveniles (J2) migrating through the soil to find suitable host roots.
