Metriochroa latifoliella is a specialized insect pest belonging to the order Lepidoptera and the family Gracillariidae. This species is recognized for its larval stage behavior, where the caterpillars create galleries, commonly known as mines, inside the leaves of host plants, causing significant disruption to the plant's physiological functions.
The primary hosts for this species include members of the Oleaceae family, with a strong preference for various species of Jasminum. As a specialist herbivore, its impact is particularly notable in nurseries and landscapes where jasmine shrubs are cultivated for ornamental purposes.
