Description
The leaf weevil (Neocoenorrhinus interpunctatus) is a specialized insect pest belonging to the order Coleoptera and the family Rhynchitidae. This small weevil typically reaches 3-4 mm in length and displays a distinct bronze-green metallic coloration covered with fine hairs. Due to its cryptic behavior and tendency to feed on developing plant parts, the pest often remains unnoticed until significant damage has already occurred in the orchard.
The pest primarily targets fruit trees within the Rosaceae family. Key hosts include apple, pear, cherry, plum, and sweet cherry trees.
