Oncopodura is a genus of springtails (Collembola) belonging to the family Oncopoduridae. These microscopic arthropods are specialized soil inhabitants. Unlike many surface-dwelling springtails, they are adapted to subterranean life, thriving in moist environments where they can easily access organic matter and plant tissues.

The pest primarily targets crops in greenhouses, nurseries, and managed agricultural fields with high moisture levels. Vulnerable plants include young seedlings, tender root systems of vegetables, and various ornamental greenhouse plants. In favorable conditions, these organisms can cause significant damage to early-stage crops, hindering normal root development.

The biology of Oncopodura is deeply influenced by soil structure and moisture availability. They reproduce rapidly in damp, nutrient-rich soil environments, particularly where organic debris is abundant.
