Ophionea

Ophionea is a genus of beetles belonging to the Carabidae family, order Coleoptera. While many members of the ground beetle family are known as beneficial predators, specific species within the Ophionea genus can exhibit phytophagous behavior, occasionally causing economic damage to agricultural crops, particularly in regions with high humidity and intensive cultivation systems.

The primary crops affected by this pest include cereals, especially rice, and various horticultural plants. Ophionea is frequently encountered in ecosystems where the pest can hide within plant structures.
