The tamarisk moth (Ornativalva plutelliformis) is a small moth species belonging to the family Gelechiidae, within the order Lepidoptera. It is specifically adapted to feed on plants within the Tamarix genus, which are commonly found in arid and semi-arid environments.
This pest is exclusively associated with tamarisk shrubs and trees. While these plants are often used for soil stabilization and landscaping in harsh climates, the moth can become a significant problem when population densities reach threshold levels, impacting the vitality of these hardy plants.
