These mollusks are highly invasive and can cause substantial economic losses in commercial nurseries and greenhouses by feeding on a variety of plants.

Systematically, this organism is categorized within the order Stylommatophora. The biology of Ovachlamys is characterized by high reproductive rates in humid environments. They thrive in tropical and subtropical conditions, making them particularly problematic in greenhouses where temperature and humidity levels are strictly controlled to favor plant growth.
