Ovachlamys fulgens is an invasive species of terrestrial gastropod mollusk belonging to the family Helicarionidae. Native to Southeast Asia, this pest has spread to many tropical and subtropical regions worldwide, largely facilitated by the international trade of nursery stock and ornamental plants. It is characterized by its small size and a thin, translucent shell that is too small to retract the entire body.

Taxonomically, this organism is part of the order Stylommatophora. These snails thrive in humid and shaded environments, making greenhouses, nurseries, and damp gardens their primary habitats. They are nocturnal by nature, spending their daylight hours hidden beneath leaf litter, logs, or deep within the soil surface, which makes early detection a significant challenge for growers.

The diet of this mollusk is highly varied, causing substantial harm to numerous agricultural and ornamental crops. It is particularly notorious for damaging orchids, various ornamental shrubs, and vegetable seedlings. The snail feeds by rasping the foliage, creating irregular holes, ragged leaf margins, or completely consuming tender stems and buds, which can lead to plant death.

The life cycle involves depositing eggs in moist soil or organic mulch. Due to its rapid development cycle, the species can produce multiple generations per year under favorable temperature and moisture conditions. Its high reproductive potential makes it a serious threat to biodiversity and agricultural productivity once introduced into a new ecosystem.
