Systematic position: the genus Pasiphila belongs to the family Geometridae, order Lepidoptera. These moths, often referred to as pug moths, are recognized for their larvae, which pose a significant threat to various agricultural and ornamental plants by feeding on their reproductive structures.
Host plants: Pasiphila species primarily target plants within the Rosaceae and Asteraceae families. They are frequently recorded as pests on fruit trees, such as apple, as well as various garden perennials and flowering shrubs, where they target the developing buds and blossoms.
Biology and life cycle: the life cycle follows a complete metamorphosis: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Eggs are laid on or near the buds.
