Shining flower beetle

The genus Phalacrus is part of the Phalacridae family, commonly known as shining flower beetles. These small, convex, and shiny beetles are distributed worldwide. They are frequently encountered in agricultural landscapes, where they interact with various plant species, particularly during the flowering and seed-setting stages.

These pests primarily affect grain crops and members of the Asteraceae family. While some species are considered mycophagous (feeding on fungi), they can cause damage to plant reproductive tissues.
