The apple leaf miner (Phyllonorycter corylifoliella) is a moth belonging to the family Gracillariidae. This insect is a significant pest in orchards, known for its specific feeding behavior that targets the internal tissue of leaves, potentially causing widespread damage to deciduous trees.
This pest affects a variety of fruit crops, including apple, pear, cherry, and quince, as well as several ornamental and wild trees like hawthorn and hazel. The economic impact is primarily seen in weakened tree health, reduced photosynthesis, and potential yield loss due to premature defoliation.
