Pimpla pedalis is a species of parasitic wasp belonging to the family Ichneumonidae within the order Hymenoptera. This insect is primarily recognized in forest pathology and entomology as a parasitoid that interacts with various lepidopteran larvae, often playing a complex role in regulating insect populations within forest ecosystems and tree nurseries.

The host range of Pimpla pedalis includes several species of moths and butterflies that infest trees and woody shrubs. By targeting larvae that feed on foliage or bore into stems, these wasps act as natural biological regulators. However, their impact on commercial crops is generally considered secondary, primarily affecting the population density of potential primary pests.

The life cycle of Pimpla pedalis is characterized by the parasitic habits of the female. Using a specialized, long ovipositor, the female locates a suitable host hidden beneath plant tissues.
