Platycheirus quadratus

Platycheirus quadratus is a species of hoverfly belonging to the family Syrphidae within the order Diptera. While many hoverflies are beneficial pollinators or predators, certain species can cause significant stress to agricultural crops, acting as plant pests that interfere with normal growth and plant physiological processes.

The pest primarily targets a range of cereal crops and various vegetable plants. By feeding on the plant tissues or sap, it directly affects the structural integrity of the crop.
