The life cycle of this pest involves several stages: eggs are typically inserted into plant tissues, followed by two active larval stages, two non-feeding pupal stages (pro-nymph and nymph), and the adult stage. The duration of this cycle is highly dependent on ambient temperature and humidity, with warmer periods often leading to rapid population explosions that can overwhelm plant defense mechanisms.

This pest affects a diverse range of host plants, feeding primarily on the sap of leaves, buds, and flowers. By using their rasping-sucking mouthparts, they puncture plant cells, causing the collapse of cellular structure and depletion of chlorophyll.
