Podontia is a genus of leaf beetles belonging to the family Chrysomelidae within the order Coleoptera. These insects are recognized in agricultural science as specialized pests that inhabit tropical and subtropical regions. Their lifecycle and dietary habits make them a significant concern for cultivators of specific host plants, primarily within the Anacardiaceae family.

The primary crops affected by Podontia are various species within the Spondias genus. These plants, often grown for their fruits, serve as both a food source for adult beetles and a host for larval development.
