Ground beetle

The ground beetle Poecilus lepidus belongs to the order Coleoptera and the family Carabidae. While most ground beetles are beneficial predators in the field, specific species, including some within the Poecilus genus, can exhibit phytophagous behavior, causing economic damage to crops when their population density reaches critical levels.

This pest is known to affect cereal crops, targeting seedlings during their early developmental stages.
