Pselliopus cinctus, commonly known as the banded assassin bug, belongs to the Reduviidae family within the order Hemiptera. These insects are well-known for their predatory habits, often serving as natural regulators of pest populations in various ecosystems, although they occasionally cause damage to cultivated plants when their food sources become scarce.

These bugs are frequently found on a wide variety of ornamental plants, fruit trees, and small shrubs. While they primarily hunt for small caterpillars, aphids, and leafhoppers, they can occasionally pierce plant tissues to feed on sap or reach hidden prey.
