Psorobia bos mite

The Psorobia bos is a microscopic mite belonging to the Psorobidae family within the order Trombidiformes. It is recognized as an obligate parasite that specifically infests the skin of cattle. Unlike some other mite species that burrow deeply, Psorobia bos primarily resides in the superficial layers of the epidermis, leading to chronic skin conditions.

The life cycle of the mite includes the egg, larva, protonymph, deutonymph, and adult stages, occurring entirely on the host's body. These mites thrive in environments where animal skin integrity is compromised or where hygiene standards are inadequate. Their development is relatively slow, but in optimal conditions, a single host can harbor thousands of mites, leading to a massive infestation.
