This species impacts various horticultural crops, primarily fruits with thin skins. While they primarily hunt for protein to feed their larvae, they frequently damage grapes, stone fruits, and berries by biting into the fruit to consume the juices. This direct damage leads to significant yield losses and reduces the market value of the produce.

The biology of Ropalidia cincta is characterized by a queen-led colony system. The growth of the colony typically aligns with the fruit maturation cycle in many agricultural regions.
