Rotylenchulus sacchari is a species of plant-parasitic nematode belonging to the order Tylenchida and the family Hoplolaimidae. Known for its impact on agriculture, this nematode acts as a soil-borne pest that targets the roots of various host plants, disrupting nutrient uptake and causing significant physiological stress to the affected crops.
The primary hosts of Rotylenchulus sacchari include sugarcane and various other agricultural crops. Because it is highly adaptable, this nematode can thrive in diverse environments, making it a persistent challenge in tropical and subtropical regions where environmental conditions favor the rapid reproduction and dissemination of these microscopic organisms.
