Sagra femorata is a species of beetle belonging to the family Chrysomelidae within the order Coleoptera. Commonly known for its striking metallic colors and the distinctively enlarged hind femora in males, this insect is considered a significant pest in several agricultural settings. It is often referred to as the "frog-legged beetle" due to the unusual morphology of its hind legs.

The primary host plants for this pest include a variety of vines and trees, with a particular affinity for Vitis vinifera (grapevine). Both the adult beetles and the larvae cause damage by feeding on the green, succulent tissues of the plants. They are particularly attracted to young, tender buds and the soft bark of growing shoots during the spring season.

The life cycle of Sagra femorata follows a pattern of complete metamorphosis. Females lay eggs directly onto the host plant's surface or within crevices of the stem.
