The Malay spider mite (Schizotetranychus malayanus) belongs to the family Tetranychidae within the order Trombidiformes. This arthropod pest is recognized for its ability to colonize and damage a variety of plant hosts, particularly in warmer climates where it can establish persistent populations that affect plant health and commercial output.
The pest primarily targets specific foliage, establishing colonies on the undersides of leaves. These mites are known for spinning fine, protective silk webs that cover their feeding areas.
