The oak blotch miner (Spulerina simploniella) is a species of moth belonging to the order Lepidoptera and the family Gracillariidae. This insect is recognized as a pest that primarily targets oak trees, influencing the health and aesthetic quality of forests and urban greenery across various regions.

The primary host for this species is the oak (Quercus). The larvae of the moth are leaf miners, meaning they feed on the internal tissues of the leaf, specifically the parenchyma, while leaving the upper and lower epidermis layers intact. This lifestyle allows them to remain protected from many environmental hazards and external predators.

The life cycle of Spulerina simploniella involves complete metamorphosis. Eggs are laid on the leaf surface, and upon hatching, the larvae burrow into the leaf tissue.
