Stenomax

Stenomax is a genus of beetles belonging to the family Tenebrionidae, commonly known as darkling beetles. These insects are significant agricultural pests, particularly in the context of stored products. Systematically, they are classified within the order Coleoptera, and their presence is often indicative of poor storage conditions or long-term accumulation of organic waste in agricultural environments.

The primary crops affected by Stenomax include cereals such as wheat, corn, barley, and various types of grains stored in silos and warehouses. While they are known as stored product pests, they can also occur in agricultural fields where they feed on ripening grains or seeds left on the soil surface, causing direct damage to the crop quality before harvest.
