Gillette's treehopper (Stictocephala gillettei) is a damaging insect species from the order Hemiptera, belonging to the family Membracidae. Originally native to North America, this pest has gradually spread to new regions, posing a significant threat to a wide range of woody plants and shrub species in both natural and agricultural settings.

The primary hosts for this pest include deciduous trees such as poplars, willows, and oaks, as well as various fruit-bearing cultivars. Damage is caused by both adults and nymphs, which feed on plant sap by piercing the soft tissues of stems and young shoots, often leading to physiological stress in the host plant.

The life cycle of the pest consists of the egg stage, five nymphal instars, and the adult stage. Females deposit eggs directly into deep slits in the bark of young twigs using a specialized ovipositor.
