Syagrus calcaratus

Syagrus calcaratus is a species of leaf beetle belonging to the family Chrysomelidae within the order Coleoptera. This insect is recognized in agronomy as a significant phytophagous pest capable of causing substantial damage to various agricultural and ornamental crops, particularly those within the Malvaceae family.

The host plants primarily affected by this beetle include species such as cotton. Both adults and larvae exhibit voracious feeding habits, targeting the leaves of their host plants. In regions where these plants are widely cultivated, the presence of the beetle can lead to severe crop losses if left unmonitored during the growing season.

The life cycle of the beetle is closely tied to the host plant’s growth stages.
