Syrphus similis is a species of dipteran insect belonging to the family Syrphidae. While many hoverflies are considered beneficial pollinators or predators, some species under specific conditions can exhibit phytophagous behavior or contribute to the stress of agricultural and ornamental crops, requiring close monitoring by agronomists.

This species primarily affects ornamental flowers, greenhouse-grown vegetables, and specific berry bushes.
