The Lombardini spider mite (Tetranychus lombardinii) belongs to the order Trombidiformes and the family Tetranychidae. As a highly specialized herbivore, it poses a significant threat to global agriculture by feeding on the cellular contents of leaves.

This pest affects a diverse range of host plants, including various horticultural crops, legumes, and industrial crops like cotton. It is particularly problematic in greenhouse environments where year-round cultivation provides ideal conditions for rapid reproduction and population spikes.
